The Alexandria Police Department is gearing up for its routine assessment review by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) to maintain its nationally accredited status. The assessment, scheduled from February 19 to 23, 2024, is a crucial step in ensuring the department's adherence to CALEA standards.

In a statement, the department emphasized the importance of the accreditation process in improving performance and services provided to the community of Alexandria. "The accreditation process is an ongoing effort to ensure we continue to improve our performance, standards, and the services we provide to the community of the city of Alexandria," said a representative of the Alexandria Police Department.

As part of the assessment, community members have the opportunity to provide feedback on the department's compliance with CALEA standards, community engagement, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status. Comments can be submitted through the online Public Comment Portal, allowing residents to share commendations or concerns to support continuous improvement and professional excellence.

Residents of Alexandria are encouraged to participate in the assessment process by providing their comments directly to CALEA through the following link: https://cimrs2.calea.org/242. The department aims to utilize this feedback to strengthen its operations and maintain its commitment to excellence through reaccreditation.

The Alexandria Police Department's dedication to upholding high standards and seeking continuous improvement underscores its ongoing efforts to serve and protect the community effectively.
