Students from the Academies of Loudoun (ACL) achieved top honors at the 60th annual SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference, held June 23–27 in Atlanta, Georgia. Nineteen ACL students participated in five contests during the event.
Among the participants was senior Mariam Fuseini, who served as both a national voting delegate and state officer. Additionally, seven students were members of the national Courtesy Corps, each contributing over 65 hours of community service throughout the conference.
The team of Samir Bahl, Isabella Miranda, and Saira Khan secured first place in the Career Pathways Showcase for Arts & Communication with their project titled “Waddle.” The group focused on improving the job search process for teenagers by surveying peers about common challenges and collaborating with business partners to develop an app addressing those needs. Their efforts led to a gold medal for their innovation and presentation.
