Alexandria adjusts refuse collection schedule for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Residential refuse, recycling, curbside food waste, and yard waste collection in Alexandria will be delayed by one day during the week of January 19 due to the observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. No collections will take place on Monday, January 19.

Trash, recycling, yard waste, and leaf collections scheduled for Monday will occur on Tuesday, January 20. Tuesday’s collections move to Wednesday, January 21; Wednesday’s to Thursday, January 22; and Thursday’s to Friday, January 23.

Curbside food waste collection will also follow a revised schedule: Monday pickups shift to Tuesday, January 20; Wednesday pickups to Thursday, January 22; Thursday pickups to Friday, January 23; and Friday pickups to Saturday, January 24.

The Household Hazardous Waste Electronic Collection Drop-off Center will be closed on Monday, January 19 as well.
