Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) will not hold classes for students on November 4 due to a teacher workday. ACPS offices will be closed on November 11.

The Alexandria Transit Company (DASH) will operate its bus service as usual on November 11. The King Street Trolley will run every 15 minutes from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. DASH Administrative Offices will be closed for the holiday.

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on November 11. For animal emergencies or wildlife concerns, residents can call 703.746.4444.

All courts—including the General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court, Court Service Unit, Circuit Court, and Clerk of Circuit Court—will be closed both on Election Day and Veterans Day.

Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices in Alexandria will also be closed both days; however, over fifty DMV services are available online at https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/.

All public libraries in Alexandria will close their doors for Veterans Day.

On parking enforcement for Veterans Day: “The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces and residential permit parking districts,” according to city officials; this only applies to legal parking spaces—parking in prohibited locations remains subject to enforcement—and temporary no-parking signs are still enforced.

Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics Facility, Charles Houston Recreation Center, and Patrick Henry Recreation Center will be open from 9 a.m.–3 p.m., but all other recreation facilities and nature centers in the city are closed that day.

Refuse collection services—including recycling and yard waste—will not occur on Veterans Day; collection is delayed by one day for the remainder of that week and the Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Center is also closed that day.

Torpedo Factory Art Center hours may vary around holidays; residents are encouraged to check https://torpedofactory.org/todays-hours/ for specific closure times.

For those who need communication assistance in another language: “If you prefer to communicate in another language, free interpretation and translation services are available,” according to city officials; residents may email LanguageAccess@alexandriava.gov or call 703-746-3960 with requests.
