Residents and businesses in Alexandria are reminded that the deadline to pay 2025 Vehicle Personal Property (Car Tax) and Business Personal Property taxes is Monday, October 6, 2025. Payments made after this date will incur a 10% penalty, which increases to 25% for payments submitted after November 5.

Tax payments can be made online at alexandriava.gov/Payments or mailed to the appropriate P.O. Box address for either vehicle or business personal property taxes. In-person payments are accepted at City Hall, located at 301 King Street, Room 1510, and at the West End Finance Office at 4850 Mark Center Drive, Suite 2011, during regular business hours from Monday through Friday, 8AM-5PM. There is also a drop box available on the Royal Street side of City Hall for payments at any time; these must be deposited by midnight on October 6 to avoid penalties.

Additional information about vehicle personal property tax is available at alexandriava.gov/CarTax and about business personal property tax at alexandriava.gov/BusinessTax.

For questions regarding payments or to request a tax bill, residents can contact the Treasury Division by phone at 703.746.4800 (Option 2) or by email at payments@alexandriava.gov. For inquiries related to vehicle registration or assessment changes, residents should email vehicletax@alexandriava.gov.
