The City of Alexandria’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services has announced upcoming repaving and maintenance work scheduled for November 3-7. The department oversees the upkeep of sidewalks, alleys, and more than 561 lane miles of roadway to ensure safe travel for all users.

Residents and businesses located on streets set for repaving will be notified in advance, usually through posted project signs or letters. Temporary “No Parking” signs will also be installed before the start of work. The city advises the public to observe these signs to avoid tickets or having vehicles towed.

According to city officials, the street repaving list and schedule may change due to factors such as weather conditions, equipment availability, other ongoing city projects, or coordination with utility work. Any postponed work will be rescheduled when conditions permit.

Streets planned for repaving during this period include Commerce Street (from South Payne Street to South West Street), Portner Road (from Bashford Lane to Second Street), and North Jordan Street (from Peacock Avenue to Seminary Road).

Ongoing concrete maintenance is taking place on Holland Lane, with improvements focused on pedestrian safety. While some traffic disruptions are expected during working hours, no major impacts are anticipated.
