The City of Alexandria’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services announced on May 1 that it will conduct street repaving and maintenance work from May 4 to May 8. The program covers sidewalks, alleys, and over 561 lane miles of road across the city.
This effort is part of the city’s commitment to keeping infrastructure in good condition for all users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. Businesses and residents whose streets are scheduled for repaving will receive advance notice through project signs or letters. Temporary “No Parking” signs will also be posted before work begins to help avoid tickets or towing.
The city notes that the repaving list and schedule may change due to weather conditions, equipment availability, other ongoing projects, or utility coordination. Streets included in this round are East Abingdon Drive (from Washington Street to end), West Abingdon Drive (from Washington Street to end), Hatton Court (from Doris Drive to City limits), Madison Street (from North Columbus Street to Washington Street), as well as speed cushion installations on Martha Custis Drive and Gunston Road.
