The City of Alexandria’s Department of Transportation and Environmental Services has announced its latest plans for street repaving and maintenance. The department oversees the upkeep of sidewalks, alleys, and more than 561 lane miles of road throughout Alexandria.

Businesses and residents on streets scheduled for repaving are notified in advance through project signs or letters. Temporary “No Parking” signs will be placed before work begins, and drivers are advised to observe these signs to avoid tickets or towing.

The city noted that the schedule for street repaving is subject to change due to factors such as weather, equipment availability, other ongoing projects, and coordination with utility work. Planned work will be rescheduled if necessary.

Street repaving scheduled between October 5 and October 10 includes Metro Road (from S. Van Dorn Street to Eisenhower Avenue) with night operations from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting Sunday, October 5. Other streets set for repaving include Peele Place (from Taney Avenue to end), Regency Place (from North Pryor Street to end), Rhodes Place (from North Pryor Street to end), and Pryor Street (from Richenbacher Avenue to Taney Avenue).

Concrete maintenance work is also being conducted in response to service requests across the city.
