Children and families are invited to attend Story Time for Little Historians at the Alexandria Black History Museum on Saturday, December 13 at 10 a.m. The event will be led by Oumie, a Fulani storyteller, who will introduce children to Kwanzaa through interactive storytelling, call-and-response learning, and crafts based on the holiday’s seven principles.
The program is designed for children ages 5 to 10 and aims to mix history, culture, and imagination in an engaging setting. According to organizers, “This interactive story-time invites children to read, reflect, and imagine alongside Oumie — discovering that their own stories matter too.” Children are encouraged to arrive early and participate in activities held in the museum’s Parker-Gray Gallery.
Admission is free for all attendees. Story Time for Little Historians takes place every second Saturday of the month at the museum located at 902 Wythe Street in Alexandria. The venue is within walking distance from Braddock Road Metro station on both the Yellow and Blue Lines. More information about this event can be found at https://www.alexandriava.gov/BlackHistory.
