Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum announces two spring traditional music concerts

The Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum announced on April 15 that it will host two spring concerts as part of its Traditional Music Series, featuring renowned folk and traditional artists. The first concert takes place on Thursday, April 16, with a performance by Séan Gavin and Caoimhín Ó Fearghail. A second concert is scheduled for Friday, May 1, with Dylan Foley and Matt Mancuso.

These events are intended to bring world-class traditional music to local audiences in an intimate historic setting. Both concerts will be held at The Lyceum, located at 201 S. Washington St., Alexandria, Virginia.

Séan Gavin is described as a master of the uilleann pipes and flute who has won the Seán Ó Riada Gold Medal. Caoimhín Ó Fearghail comes from An Rinn in the Waterford Gaeltacht and has received several awards including TG4 Young Musician of the Year and Best Folk Instrumentalist at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards. Dylan Foley is recognized as a four-time All-Ireland Fiddle Champion while Matt Mancuso is noted for his multi-instrumental talent on fiddle and trumpet.

Tickets for the first concert are $35; tickets for the second are $30 or $15 for youth attendees. A cash or credit bar will be available during both events. The series is co-sponsored by the Office of Historic Alexandria and the North American Morris Dance Organization.

According to the official website, Alexandria’s museums and historic sites enhance community identity by interpreting local social and cultural history.
