The City of Alexandria’s Office of Housing has opened applications for eight affordable homeownership units at The Whitley, a new condominium community at 811 N Columbus Street. The Whitley, which will have 78 units in total, is expected to open in January 2026.

The available affordable units range from one-bedroom to three-bedroom and den layouts. They are intended for income-eligible, first-time homebuyers who live or work in Alexandria. One of the two-bedroom units is designed to be accessible.

Applications will be accepted until Friday, October 24, 2025, at 5 p.m. Because demand is expected to be high, eligible applicants will be chosen through a lottery.

Information about the affordable units, eligibility, the application process, the lottery, and downpayment assistance can be found on the Homebuyers Resources page or by contacting Anelva Corcos Beltran at Anelva.CorcosBeltran@alexandriava.gov or 703.746.3092.

For disability accommodations, contact Gabriella DiLena at 703.746.3089, Virginia Relay 711, or gabriella.dilena@alexandriava.gov. Free interpretation and translation services are also available by emailing LanguageAccess@alexandriava.gov or calling 703.746.3960.
