Alexandria Police identify victim in fatal N. Patrick Street shooting

Alexandria Police have identified the victim of a recent homicide on N. Patrick Street as 27-year-old Marquette Holmes, who lived in Washington, DC.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. At around 6:36 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 900 block of N. Patrick Street. When police arrived, they found two victims: an adult male and a juvenile male, both with apparent gunshot wounds. Both were taken to local hospitals. Holmes died at the hospital, while the juvenile sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.

The District of Columbia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Holmes’s death a homicide.

According to Alexandria Police Department (APD), “The APD has increased patrols in the area, and detectives continue to talk with neighbors and collect evidence.”

Authorities are seeking help from residents who were near N. Patrick and N. Alfred Streets between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on January 28th. They ask anyone with doorbell or dash camera footage or photos from that timeframe to upload them through their public evidence portal at https://alexandriapdva.evidence.com/axon/community-request/public/900npatrick referencing APD Case #26-007165.
