Alexandria Police are continuing their investigation into an attempted burglary that took place on the evening of October 14, 2025, in the 100 block of South Iris Street. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) are working to identify three masked individuals who attempted to enter a family’s home and made threats.
Police say the incident occurred around 9:50 p.m. when three people wearing Halloween-style masks were captured on doorbell cameras knocking at the door and making threatening statements. The residents did not open the door. The suspects then went into the backyard, damaging both a fence and an outdoor storage unit, but nothing was reported stolen.
Responding officers canvassed the neighborhood with a K9 handler, interviewing witnesses. Crime Scene Investigators collected evidence and reviewed video footage provided by residents.
“I want to be very clear — this is a very serious matter,” said Tarrick McGuire, Chief of Police for the Alexandria Police Department. “The individuals responsible for terrorizing this family will be held accountable. We prioritize community safety and will work tirelessly to ensure our residents feel safe in their homes and can walk the streets without fear. Our detectives will follow every lead until those responsible are brought to justice.”
The CID has received several credible leads and continues to pursue them.
Police urge residents to call law enforcement when suspicious activity occurs so officers can respond appropriately.
