The City of Alexandria will hold a remembrance ceremony on Thursday, September 11, at City Hall from 10 to 11 a.m. The event aims to honor those who lost their lives, those who survived, and everyone affected by the events of September 11, 2001.
The ceremony will include a presentation of colors, remarks from Mayor Alyia Gaskins and public safety officials, and a return to quarters ceremony. Organizers note that if there is inclement weather, the event will be moved inside City Hall.
City officials encourage community members to attend and reflect on the sacrifices made that day. “The ceremony will remember those killed, those who survived, and all who were affected. The event will also show gratitude to those who risked or gave their lives while responding to the incident to save others.”
