Residents of Alexandria are invited to share their feedback on the Draft Recommendations and Strategies for the Housing 2040 Plan until March 22. The city has provided several ways for the public to participate, including attending an open house event, submitting comments online at engage.alexandriava.gov/housing2040plan, emailing housing2040plan@publicinput.com, or leaving a voicemail at 855.925.2801 with Project Code: 2469.

The Housing 2040 Open House will take place on February 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nannie J Lee Memorial Recreation Center located at 1108 Jefferson St, Alexandria, VA 22314. The event will include interactive stations and breakout sessions focused on topics such as homeowner resources, housing options for seniors and persons with disabilities, landlord-tenant rights, and affordable housing preservation. Light lunch and refreshments will be available.

Interpretation services in Spanish, Amharic, Arabic, Dari, and Pashto will be offered during the event. Attendees are encouraged to indicate their interpretation needs when registering. Parking is available near the recreation center and DASH bus route 34 provides direct access.

Feedback collected from these opportunities will help shape the final draft of the Housing 2040 Plan, which is expected to be presented for City Council consideration in June.

The city’s previous Housing Master Plan (HMP), adopted in 2013, set out principles and strategies addressing local housing needs through 2025. The current update extends planning through 2040 in collaboration with community members and partners. Recordings of past meetings related to this process can be found on alexandriava.gov/HousingPlan.
