Alexandria seeks urban forester manager to lead city’s tree care and green spaces

The Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities announced on March 25 that it is hiring an Urban Forester Manager to oversee the management and growth of Alexandria’s urban forest. Hashim Taylor, Director of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities, said, “This role helps drive how we manage our tree inventory, elevate maintenance standards, and deliver quality parks and green spaces that our community can rely on. It is a direct investment in operational excellence and aligning our work with best practices across both the public and private sectors.”

The position will be responsible for planning maintenance cycles for trees, ensuring satisfaction with parks among residents, leading a team focused on employee engagement benchmarks, managing budgets and procurement processes efficiently, as well as promoting courteous service to all who use Alexandria’s parks.
