The City of Alexandria announced on April 2 that it will host a community meeting about youth sports and access to athletic facilities through the Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities (RPCA) on Monday, April 13 at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Lee Center, located at 1108 Jefferson Street.

The event aims to gather public feedback regarding how athletic facilities are used and allocated in Alexandria. Staff will share information about current policies for facility use, review existing Sports Affiliate and Community Athletic Facility Use Policies, and listen to ideas or concerns from both the community and stakeholders from the Youth Sports Advisory Board.

According to city officials, “The community discussion will inform future updates to the Sports Affiliate Policy and Community Athletic Facility Use Policy.” Residents are encouraged to attend in order to learn more about youth sports programs in Alexandria and provide input that could help RPCA improve opportunities for young athletes. Feedback given during the meeting will be documented, with additional comments accepted by email through Thursday, April 30.

Alexandria operates under a council-manager government structure where members of City Council select a manager responsible for daily operations according to the official website.
