In celebration of National Mentoring Month, Alexandria’s Mentorship Partnership (AMP) is unveiling an exciting series of events throughout January to honor and showcase the impact of mentoring. The purpose of these events is to foster mentoring relationships that empower individuals and create positive, lasting change in the Alexandria community. 

Two events will kick off the month on January 9, 2024: 

City Council Proclamation & Mentoring Celebration: “Mentoring Matters”  

Date: January 9, 2024 

Time: 5-8 p.m. 

Location: City Council Chambers 

Register for this event. 

Description: Enjoy engaging activities, delicious food, and drinks while connecting with fellow mentoring supporters. The highlight will be the official proclamation during the City Council meeting, declaring January as Alexandria Mentoring Month. Don’t forget to register and bring your Mentor/Mentees for an accurate headcount! 

Mentor University Launch: A Free College for Caring Adults  

Date: January 9, 2024 

Time: 7:30 p.m. 

Location: Virtual

Description: AMP is thrilled to announce the grand launch of Mentor University, a free college for caring adults. Join us at 7:30 p.m. for an inspiring virtual event introducing Mentor University—a place where caring adults continue to learn, grow, and make a lasting difference through mentorship. Be part of this empowering initiative! 

Join the City for a Month-Long Celebration!  

Let’s come together as a community to celebrate the power of mentorship and its incredible impact on our City. Some additional events and initiatives include a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, Mentor Workshops, and multiple trainings that empower youth and communities. Alexandria Mentoring Partnership Open House   

Date: January 31, 2024  

Time: 4:30-7:30 p.m.    

Location: The Lyceum   

Register for the AMP Mentor Open House   

Description: Join AMP for an inspiring evening celebrating mentoring programs across Alexandria. The Mentor Open House will showcase our various initiatives, and we’ll honor Mayor Justin Wilson for his outstanding support. The highlight of the evening will be a special performance by the talented Sympatico Youth Choir, symbolizing the harmonious support mentors provide to the youth in our community.
