Arlington Police detail recent robberies and property crimes in daily report

The Arlington County Police Department released its daily crime report for September 29, 2025, detailing several significant incidents from the previous days.

On September 27 at around 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a robbery near S. Glebe Road and Columbia Pike. According to police, a female victim was approached by a male suspect who attempted to steal her purse and took her wallet. Two witnesses intervened during the struggle and were threatened by the suspect, who was later held until police arrived. The suspect resisted arrest and kicked at officers before being taken into custody with additional assistance. Once detained, he continued making threatening statements toward law enforcement. One witness sustained minor injuries in the incident. Ricko Ford, 32, of no fixed address, was arrested on charges including Assault on Police, Robbery, Assault and Battery, and three counts of Obstruction of Justice. He is being held without bond.

In another incident early on September 28 at N. Garfield Street and Clarendon Boulevard, an officer discovered debris in the roadway while patrolling at approximately 4:37 a.m. Witnesses reported seeing a man damaging property nearby. Officers identified a suspect walking along Clarendon Boulevard and arrested him after finding two businesses with broken windows as well as damage to planters and a trash can in the area. Christian Amaya Ochoa, 21, of Arlington was charged with two felony counts of Destruction of Property, two misdemeanor counts of Destruction of Property, Public Intoxication, and served with an outstanding warrant from the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 8:26 p.m. on September 28 in the 1000 block of N. Glebe Road, police responded to an armed robbery where a male victim sitting outside was grabbed from behind by a man displaying a firearm who demanded his belongings before fleeing with electronics and a bag. No injuries were reported; officers canvassed the area but did not locate the suspect described as a thin Black male aged between 18-25 years old.

A separate robbery occurred on September 27 at approximately 3:16 p.m., when police were called to the 1400 block of S. Hayes Street for larceny in progress at a business location. A male suspect allegedly collected merchandise without paying; when confronted by loss prevention staff he displayed what appeared to be a knife before fleeing on foot.

Police also investigated reports including burglary (late), destruction of property across multiple locations such as S. Fern Street at 15th Street S., shoplifting incidents throughout various blocks including S. Hayes Street and Fort Myer Drive, larcenies from auto vehicles like one reported stolen Hyundai Elantra from S. Joyce Street since August.

Other cases listed involved assault and battery incidents across several neighborhoods as well as frauds reported online through different addresses within Arlington County.

Arlington County Public Schools District enrolled over twenty-seven thousand students during the previous academic year according to state data (source). Washington Liberty High School had the highest enrollment among county schools last year (source). White students represented about forty-two percent while Hispanic students made up just over thirty percent of total enrollment (source). Overall school district enrollment saw only slight change compared to prior years (source).

The crime report notes that all individuals arrested or charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
