The Arlington County Police Department released its daily crime report for August 20, 2025, detailing incidents that occurred on August 19. The report covers significant criminal events but is not a comprehensive listing of all police activity in the county.
A robbery was reported in the 6000 block of Wilson Boulevard at approximately 1:13 p.m. According to police, “the male victim was outside when the male suspect approached him, demanded cash and displayed what appeared to be a firearm. The suspect then stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the victim before fleeing the scene on foot. No injuries were reported. Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspect yielding negative results.” The suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing all black clothing and a mask. The investigation is ongoing.
Later that night, an indecent exposure incident occurred in the 2200 block of Columbia Pike around 11:49 p.m. Police stated, “the male victim was inside a parking garage when he observed the male suspect exposing himself. The suspect subsequently fled the scene on foot. Responding officers conducted a canvass of the area for the suspect yielding negative results.” The suspect is described as a thin-build Black male in his 30s with short hair, wearing a white t-shirt, gray sweatshirt, and blue jeans. This case also remains under investigation.
Other reported incidents include larceny, assault and battery, obstructing justice, shoplifting, suspicious circumstances, identity theft, destruction of property, fraud, harassment, and larceny from auto across various locations in Arlington County.
Arlington County has one public school district serving local families and students. During the 2023-24 school year, Arlington County Public Schools enrolled 27,536 students—a slight decrease compared to the previous year’s total enrollment (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home). Among these schools, Washington Liberty High School had the highest student population with 2,904 enrolled during that period (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home).
