The Arlington County Police Department released its daily crime report for December 11, 2025, detailing several incidents that occurred across the county on December 10.
Among the notable events was an arrest for assault on a police officer. At approximately 3:27 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the 2800 block of S. Quincy Street and found the driver operating with a suspended license. According to police, “During the course of the investigation, the suspect, who was the driver of the vehicle, was instructed to exit the vehicle. Upon doing so, the suspect ignored commands and was detained by an additional responding officer while the initial officers continued their investigation. While detained, the suspect struck an officer. No injuries were reported.” Veyonce Smith, 22, of Alexandria, Virginia, was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.
Police also responded to reports of burglary at a secured apartment in the 4500 block of 31st Street S. Officers determined that between late afternoon on December 9 and mid-morning on December 10, suspects forced entry into an apartment causing property damage before fleeing. The investigation is ongoing.
Another incident involved unlawful entry at a residential building in the 1000 block of N. Taylor Street around 7:22 a.m., where an unknown suspect forced entry and caused property damage before leaving. The suspect is described as a Black male of average height and thin build, about 50 years old, wearing a black jacket, black joggers and white sneakers.
Additional reports included shoplifting incidents in commercial areas such as Crystal Drive and N. Glebe Road; larceny from auto; multiple cases of destruction of property; trespassing; eluding police; assault and battery at various locations; fraud; identity theft; threats; suspicious circumstances; and one stolen vehicle—a gray Toyota RAV4 taken from Columbia Pike.
Arlington County continues to be served by its only public school district which enrolled over 27,500 students during the 2023-24 academic year according to data from the Virginia Department of Education. Washington Liberty High School had the highest enrollment among county schools that year with nearly 2,900 students (source). White students made up about 42% of total enrollment while Hispanic students accounted for just over 30% (source). Overall student numbers decreased slightly compared to previous years (source), with Montessori Public School enrolling more than one-tenth of all pre-kindergarten students in Arlington County (source).
Police remind residents that information provided in daily reports is based on initial findings and may change as investigations continue.
