Arlington County Police responded to several incidents on August 21, according to the daily crime report released on August 22, 2025. The report details significant criminal activity in the county and is published every weekday except holidays.

One incident involved an attempted carjacking at N. Culpeper Street and 19th Street N. At around 1:21 p.m., a male victim saw a man trying to steal his motorcycle. Police identified the suspect as Timothy Daerray Hudgens, 36, of Arlington, Va., who was charged with Attempted Carjacking, Use of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance. He was held without bond.

Another case reported indecent exposure at N. Oakland Street and Langston Boulevard just after 9:00 a.m. An officer observed Hernan Ayala, 35, with no fixed address, exposing himself and issued him a summons for Indecent Exposure before releasing him from the scene.

Police also investigated an attempted unlawful entry in the 800 block of S. Greenbrier Street at approximately 2:29 p.m., where two female residents returned home to find someone attempting to break into their residence before fleeing on foot. The suspect is described as white male between ages 25-35 with brown hair; police have not made any arrests as they continue their search.

Other incidents included multiple larcenies throughout various blocks in Arlington County, shoplifting cases along S. Hayes Street and S. Joyce Street, trespassing reports on N. Courthouse Road and Potomac Avenue, assault on S. Walter Reed Drive, harassment on N. Courthouse Road, fraud on S. Eads Street, destruction of property along Columbia Pike, and fugitive apprehension at S. Hayes Street.

The Arlington County Public Schools District enrolled more than 27,500 students during the previous school year—a slight decrease from earlier years—and Washington Liberty High School had the highest enrollment among local schools (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home). White students comprised about 41% of all public school students in Arlington County during that period (https://www.doe.virginia.gov/home).
