Arlington Public Schools announced on Apr. 14 the launch of the APS Adopt-a-School program, an initiative that aims to link local businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies with schools throughout Arlington.
The program is designed to foster long-term partnerships that support student achievement and strengthen connections between schools and the wider community. According to APS, participating organizations will form yearlong partnerships with specific schools, providing resources, expertise, and hands-on involvement to benefit students and staff.
“Strong schools are built on strong partnerships,” said Dr. Francisco Durán, Superintendent. “The Adopt-a-School program creates a powerful bridge between our classrooms and our community. By working together, we can expand opportunities for our students, support our educators, and build a more connected and thriving Arlington.”
Organizations involved in the program can contribute in several ways such as offering tutoring or mentoring services for students; engaging in school events; supplying classroom materials or sponsoring events; supporting educators through recognition efforts; or assisting with school improvement projects.
APS stated that these collaborations are intended to expand access for all students, promote equity across the district’s schools, empower future leaders through mentorship opportunities, and demonstrate a shared commitment to education within Arlington.
The school division encourages interested organizations to learn more about participating by visiting the APS Adopt-a-School webpage.
