Arlington Public Schools recognized several staff members as APS All Stars for March, according to a statement released on Mar. 27. The honorees include Christina Quinn from Cardinal Elementary School, Pete Balas from Wakefield High School, Brittany Dennis from Thomas Jefferson Middle School, and Sean McGee from Montessori Public School of Arlington.

The APS All Stars program acknowledges staff who demonstrate excellence in collaboration, equity, inclusivity, integrity, innovation and stewardship. The initiative aims to highlight individuals whose actions make a significant difference in the school community.

Christina Quinn was recognized for her compassion and student-centered approach as a counselor at Cardinal Elementary. When a student faced anxiety about an upcoming field trip, Quinn volunteered to attend the trip to provide emotional support. “She puts students first, stepping in to provide critical emotional support when it matters most,” Dr. Francisco Durán said.

At Wakefield High School, Pete Balas was honored for his leadership and positive presence within the school community. Dr. Durán said of Balas: “His leadership, positivity and strong connections are building a culture of trust and high expectations.”

Brittany Dennis serves as treasurer at Thomas Jefferson Middle School and is known for her attention to detail and dedication behind the scenes. Dr. Durán said: “Her attention to detail and dedication keep her school running smoothly and support student success.”

Sean McGee was celebrated at Montessori Public School of Arlington for his energetic teaching style in physical education classes and his welcoming presence during arrival and dismissal times. According to Dr. Durán: “His energy, joy and ability to connect with students create a positive start to every day.”

The district expressed gratitude toward all honorees by stating that APS All Stars help create safe, supportive environments where students can thrive.

Recipients will attend William & Mary, University of Rochester, and University of Wisconsin – Madison. The rigorous selection process aims to support outstanding students throughout college.
