The Arlington School Board announced on Mar. 19 its schedule of board meetings, work sessions, and advisory council and committee meetings for April. The schedule is available on the Arlington Public Schools (APS) website and may change with advance notice.

The announcement outlines opportunities for public participation in school board meetings. Public comment will be limited to one hour per meeting, with a maximum of 30 speakers each allotted two minutes. Three spots are reserved for APS students who sign up online in advance. Speakers can register online or in person if slots remain open, but if more than 30 people sign up online, a lottery will determine who may speak. All speakers will be notified by email about their status 24 hours before the meeting.

Eligibility to address the board includes Arlington County residents, current or former APS students, APS employees and retirees, local businesses or business partners, and parents or guardians of current or former APS students living outside Arlington County. Additional information may be required to confirm eligibility. Speaker substitutions are not allowed, nor can time be yielded to another individual.

School Board meetings are held at the Syphax Education Center in Arlington and generally begin at 7 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Meetings can be viewed live online or on Comcast Channel 70 or Verizon Channel 41. Agendas are posted one week prior to each meeting on BoardDocs.

April’s scheduled events include a public hearing on the proposed fiscal year 2027 budget on April 14 at 7 p.m., regular board meetings on April 16 and April 30 at 7 p.m., as well as several work sessions including an all-day budget session on April 14 and a session with the Budget Advisory Council on April 28. Open Office Hours will also take place twice during the month for community members to meet with board members.

Applications for advisory councils and committees for the upcoming school year have closed; details about future application periods will be shared later this year.
