The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approved funding for community nonprofit organizations during its meeting on May 19, 2026, following a competitive grant process. The funding is available to tax-exempt, private, nonprofit organizations that provide a range of health and human services to residents, with a focus on underserved populations in areas identified by the Board for fiscal year 2027, which begins July 1.

This funding aims to support individuals and families in crisis, enhance the quality and coordination of community services, assist those needing long-term support to remain independent, and help individuals and families achieve stability through tools and resources. The county’s adopted budget for fiscal year 2027 includes $3,958,331 allocated through both standard grants and mini-grants. An additional $560,187 from the anticipated year-end fund balance brings the total allocation to $4,518,518.

For standard competitive grants in fiscal year 2027, the maximum award has increased from $113,000 to $135,000 based on feedback from nonprofits regarding previous funding limits. Forty-six organizations have been selected for these grants. Recipients include A Farm Less Ordinary ($127,426), Loudoun Hunger Relief ($131,395.50), Women Giving Back ($127,480.50), among others. Four organizations will receive mini-grant awards of up to $5,000 each: Love KK ($5,000), NOVA Diaper Bank ($5,000), Ohana Preservation Foundation (amount not specified), and Willowsford Conservancy & Farm ($5,000).

Loudoun County is also implementing a nonprofit liaison plan that will designate a central point of contact within county government for nonprofits seeking information about funding opportunities or requiring assistance navigating county departments.

Online resources are available at loudoun.gov/nonprofits where nonprofits can access information about county programs including professional development opportunities and tax exemptions. Organizations are encouraged to subscribe to “Nonprofit Updates” via the website’s Notify Me function in order to receive news releases and alerts regarding annual grant opportunities such as Community Development Block Grants or Human Services Nonprofit Grant Funding.
