Refuse collection in the City of Alexandria will start at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, due to inclement weather. Residents are advised to place their bins out in the morning if conditions are safe, allowing snow plows to clear streets overnight.

Yard waste and compost services will be suspended for the day.

The city stated, “If it is safe to do so, please place bins out the morning to allow plows to work through night snow removal operations. Your refuse will be collected if it is safe for trucks to reach the bins.”

Residents whose trash and recycling are not picked up as scheduled can report missed collections online or by calling Alex311. Crews will return in the following days to collect any missed refuse.

Additional information about refuse collection can be found at alexandriava.gov/ResourceRecovery.
