City of Alexandria announces dates for annual community cookout events this spring and summer

The Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities announced on Apr. 28 that the City of Alexandria will host its 19th Annual Community Cookout events throughout the spring and summer at various locations.

The event aims to bring residents together to foster a sense of community, provide access to city resources, and offer activities for all ages. The cookouts are designed as an opportunity for neighbors to connect while enjoying free food, games, and giveaways.

Events are scheduled from early May through June at locations including Mount Vernon Recreation Center, Mason at Van Dorn, Ruby Tucker Family Center, Brent Place, Princess Square parking lot, Fairlington Presbyterian Church, Andrew Adkins Community area, Southern Towers, and Casa Chirilagua. Alexandria is known for enhancing community identity through its museums and historic sites that interpret local social and cultural history according to the official website.
