Rep. Don Beyer, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th District since 2015, expressed concerns on various issues through a series of tweets on February 13, 2025. Born in Trieste in 1950 and currently residing in Alexandria, Beyer is known for his advocacy on aviation safety and federal hiring practices.

In his first tweet of the day, Rep. Beyer addressed an air collision incident that affected his community. He emphasized the need for President to respond with measures to enhance aviation safety by stating: “The community I represent is still hurting from last month’s air collision. The President owes everyone affected by that tragedy a response to improve aviation safety.” This tweet was posted at 00:38 UTC.

Later, at 02:35 UTC, Rep. Beyer criticized recent changes in federal hiring processes attributed to Elon Musk’s influence. He commented: “Musk found a way to make federal hiring slower and more bureaucratic.” According to Beyer, this involves additional layers of bureaucracy involving “DOGE,” which he claims are funded by taxpayers.

In another tweet posted at 15:46 UTC, Rep. Beyer discussed fiscal policy matters concerning tax cuts proposed by Republicans. He stated: “Once again Republicans want huge tax cuts for the rich.” He criticized these proposals as unfounded claims that they would pay for themselves and warned about their potential impact on deficits and national debt.
