Rep. Don Beyer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, recently addressed several issues through his social media platform. Born in Trieste in 1950 and currently residing in Alexandria, Beyer graduated from Williams College in 1972.

On July 7, 2025, Beyer expressed his sorrow over the tragic flooding affecting Central Texas. In his post, he stated “This is devastating news. I’m heartbroken for all those impacted by this tragic flooding and continue to keep Central Texas in my thoughts.” He also conveyed gratitude towards first responders and others assisting amid the disaster.

Later that day, Beyer criticized potential tariff impositions by former President Trump. He remarked on the uncertainty caused by these actions: “Spamming our allies with ransom demands that will again create uncertainty.” He warned about the financial burden such tariffs could impose on Americans.

In another tweet posted on July 7, Beyer questioned the impact of Trump’s legislative proposals on American finances. He shared a resource from The Washington Post aimed at calculating potential financial outcomes: “How will Trump’s Big Ugly Bill affect your finances and those of other Americans?”
