Rep. Don Beyer, who represents Virginia’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed issues ranging from health care costs to foreign aid and community leadership in a series of posts on his social media account.

On January 20, 2026, Beyer wrote about rising living expenses and criticized former President Donald Trump’s policies: “Health care costs are skyrocketing. Prices for groceries and electricity are shooting up. Housing and transportation costs are rising rapidly. But Trump isn’t even interested in affordability. His tariffs and other policies are making it worse: https://t.co/EiVft46Na9”

Later that day, he commented on changes to U.S. foreign assistance policy: “A year ago, the Trump Administration froze U.S. foreign assistance funding, a move that ultimately led to the full dismantling of USAID. It was a cruel and reckless decision, and one that continues to have devastating repercussions around the world.”

On January 21, 2026, Beyer highlighted community engagement at a recent event: “Thanks to everyone who joined us for last week’s Women’s Conference and an inspiring conversation with women leaders on resilience, hope, and service to our community. It was also an honor to recognize Nancy Eslick for her remarkable career with USAID!”

Beyer has represented Virginia’s 8th District since replacing Jim Moran in 2015.[1] He was born in Trieste in 1950[3] and currently resides in Alexandria.[3] He graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1972.[4]
