U.S. Representative Don Beyer, who has represented Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, posted a series of statements on social media addressing recent shootings, political corruption allegations, and environmental concerns.

On December 15, 2025, Beyer commented on the deaths of two students, writing, “Virginia’s Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov dreamed of becoming a neurosurgeon after overcoming his own childhood health struggles. He and his fellow Brown student Ella Cook, of Alabama, both had promising futures cut tragically short. We must do more to stop these horrific shootings.”

Later that day, Beyer criticized former President Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans. In his post dated December 15, 2025, he stated: “Trump is engaging in some of the most worst corruption we’ve seen in modern history. His family is raking in billions of dollars while the American people are crushed with skyrocketing costs – and Republicans in Congress refuse to do anything about it.”

On December 16, 2025, Beyer addressed environmental risks associated with pollution and chemicals. He wrote: “Pollution and forever chemicals put Americans, including pregnant women and their babies, at serious risk. I voted NO on the PERMIT Act to stop the Republican effort to pollute your water.”

Beyer has served as a member of Congress since replacing Jim Moran in 2015. He was born in Trieste in 1950 and currently resides in Alexandria. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College.
