U.S. Representative Don Beyer, who represents Virginia’s 8th district in Congress, recently posted a series of tweets addressing legislative efforts on the release of the Epstein files and concerns about public health leadership.
On September 3, 2025, Beyer wrote: “I signed the @RepThomasMassie & @RoKhanna discharge petition to force a binding vote – unlike Speaker Johnson’s nonbinding resolutions – to require release of the Epstein files. It’s up to 205 signatures; it needs 218 to take effect. See who signed here: https://t.co/XRZvXGfhvD https://t.co/nz2gCkWGKQ”. The petition referenced by Beyer seeks enough congressional support to compel a formal vote for releasing documents related to Jeffrey Epstein.
The following day, on September 4, 2025, Beyer highlighted bipartisan concern over public health policy. He tweeted: “Every Director of the Centers for Disease Control dating back to 1977 – serving in administrations led by presidents of both parties – signed this: ‘We Ran the C.D.C. Kennedy Is Endangering Every American’s Health’ https://t.co/Yndaj2BqKy”.
Shortly after, he added another statement from CDC Directors regarding Robert F. Kennedy Jr., writing: ‘”Amid the largest measles outbreak in the United States in a generation, he’s focused on unproven treatments while downplaying vaccines. He canceled investments in promising medical research that will leave us ill prepared for future health emergencies” —CDC Directors on RFK Jr https://t.co/eODX428iVl’.
Don Beyer has represented Virginia’s 8th District since succeeding Jim Moran in 2015 and is currently serving as its U.S. Congressman. Born in Trieste in 1950 and now residing in Alexandria, Beyer graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1972.
