Rep. Don Beyer, who represents Virginia’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on January 4, 2026, addressing recent political developments and House votes.

In one tweet posted at 19:19 UTC, Beyer wrote, “Vance, like Trump, is a fountain of lies.”

Later that day at 22:05 UTC, he commented on congressional proceedings: “One of the final House votes of 2025 was a vote on @RepMcGovern’s war powers resolution to bar President Trump from military action against Venezuela without authorization by Congress. All Republicans except @RepThomasMassie @RepDonBacon @RepMTG voted to defeat the measure:”

Shortly after, at 22:05 UTC as well, Beyer added his own voting record regarding the resolution: “I voted for the resolution. You can see how every Member of the House voted here:”

Don Beyer has served in Congress since replacing Jim Moran in 2015 and continues to represent Virginia’s 8th District. Born in Trieste in 1950 and currently residing in Alexandria, Beyer holds a BA from Williams College earned in 1972.
