Don Beyer, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th district, has been vocal on Twitter regarding various political issues. His recent posts covered topics from economic policies to legislative actions.

On April 7, 2025, Beyer critiqued former President Donald Trump and his Congressional allies in a tweet. He stated, “And while Trump is splitting his time between golfing and wrecking the economy, his Republican allies in Congress are getting ready to pass a huge tax cut for the rich.” This post underscores his disapproval of the economic direction and tax policies promoted by Republican leaders.

In an enigmatic tweet on April 8, 2025, Beyer expressed confusion with a simple post: “I do not know what this means.” No further context was provided in the tweet.

Later on the same day, Beyer announced his support for a House resolution challenging certain economic measures. He posted, “This resolution from @RepGregoryMeeks @RepRichardNeal @RepRickLarsen, which I cosponsored, has privilege on the House floor. We are going to force House Republicans to vote on Trump’s crazy tariffs and the destruction they are unleashing on our economy.” This highlights his active engagement in legislative efforts to counteract trade policies he views as damaging.

Beyer, who replaced Jim Moran in Congress in 2015, has been an active member since then. Born in Trieste in 1950, Beyer grew up and currently resides in Alexandria. He completed his education with a BA from Williams College in 1972.
