Rep. Don Beyer, a U.S. Congressman representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, posted a series of critical statements on March 19, 2026, addressing concerns about ethics in public service, the judicial system’s support for science-based medicine, and the Trump Administration’s approach to drug pricing.
In a tweet posted at 19:00 UTC, Beyer wrote, “They are out for themselves, with no regard for ethical and honest public service. We’ve never seen anything like it, and the rot comes from the very top.”
At 20:10 UTC the same day, he commented on recent court decisions regarding public health policy: “A relief to see the courts uphold science, public health, and evidence-based medicine. This is hopefully the first of many steps to undo the damage done by RFK Jr. and his team of quacks.”
Later that evening at 20:43 UTC, Beyer criticized an initiative from former President Trump’s administration related to prescription drugs: “Instead of working on policies to make health care more affordable, the Trump Administration is promoting a sham Trump Rx website with access to drugs that already have cheaper generic options or can be found for the same or lower price through other discount services.”
Beyer has represented Virginia’s 8th District in Congress since replacing Jim Moran in 2015. He was born in Trieste in 1950 and currently resides in Alexandria. Beyer holds a BA from Williams College (1972).
