Rep. Don Beyer, who represents Virginia’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media account on October 20, 2025, to address several issues, including healthcare funding in Northern Virginia, former President Donald Trump’s approach to criminal investigations, and U.S. policy on Ukraine.

In a post published at 15:56 UTC, Beyer wrote, “I’m grateful we have providers like the @ArlFreeClinic to support Northern Virginia’s families, but the devastating cuts enacted by Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill will increase demand while reducing their funds. Supporting them is more important than ever!” He highlighted concerns over reduced funding for local clinics as a result of recent legislative actions.

Later the same day at 17:50 UTC, Beyer criticized former President Trump’s handling of criminal investigations, stating, “Bribery. Fraud. Insider trading. Corruption. Violent crime. Trump doesn’t care. If you’re his pal he’ll shut down investigations and give you a get-out-of-jail-free card. But if you’re his enemy, Trump will get you prosecuted on made-up charges. The definition of corruption.”

At 20:01 UTC, Beyer commented on Trump’s position regarding the war in Ukraine: “Rather than supplying the weapon systems Ukraine needs to win, Trump is back again to calling for Russia to be given the territory it launched the invasion to win, rewarding their aggression. His wild swings on Ukraine alienate our allies and strengthen our enemies.”

Don Beyer has served as the representative for Virginia’s 8th District since 2015, succeeding Jim Moran. Born in Trieste in 1950, Beyer resides in Alexandria and holds a BA from Williams College.
