Representative Don Beyer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, used his social media platform to criticize former President Donald Trump’s recent military actions and their domestic consequences.

On April 2, 2026, Beyer posted: “Trump recklessly decided to wage an illegal war against Iran with no plan to manage the fallout, and now American households are paying the price.

According to a @JECDems analysis, since the start of the war just a month ago, Americans have spent $8.4 BILLION more on gas.”

The following day, April 3, Beyer continued his criticism by writing: “For President Trump ‘America First’ means hundreds of billions more for war — and he’s gutting education, healthcare, and housing to pay for it.”

In a separate message later that day, Beyer expressed concern for military personnel involved in ongoing conflicts: “Praying for the safety of our servicemembers and their return.”

Don Beyer has served in Congress since replacing Jim Moran in 2015. He was born in Trieste in 1950 and currently resides in Alexandria. Beyer graduated from Williams College in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
