U.S. Representative Don Beyer, who serves Virginia’s 8th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on March 31, 2026, addressing issues ranging from energy policy to immigration and LGBTQ+ rights.

In a post made at 17:51 UTC, Beyer criticized former President Donald Trump’s approach to the ongoing energy crisis. He wrote, “If Trump wanted to address the energy crisis he created, he could end the war, abandon his ideological obsession with fossil fuels, and embrace the diversity of American energy sources. Instead, he’s giving his oil and gas friends a free pass to pollute and kill endangered” (March 31, 2026).

Later that day at 19:01 UTC, Beyer announced his support for a legislative effort related to Haitian immigrants. He stated, “I signed onto @RepPressley ‘s discharge petition to force a vote on redesignating TPS for Haiti because Donald Trump and Stephen Miller’s attacks on Haitian immigrants are purely driven by xenophobia and bigotry, not security concerns. I look forward to voting yes.” (March 31, 2026).

At 19:43 UTC on the same day, Beyer commented on a recent Supreme Court decision regarding Colorado’s law on conversion therapy. He posted, “Conversion therapy is abusive and fraudulent. I’m heartbroken to see the Supreme Court’s ruling on Colorado’s state law. I will continue to push for a national ban on conversion therapy so we can protect the health and safety of children all across America.” (March 31, 2026).

Beyer has represented Virginia’s 8th District in Congress since replacing Jim Moran in 2015. Born in Trieste in 1950 and currently residing in Alexandria at age 72, Beyer graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1972.
