U.S. Representative Don Beyer, who has served Virginia’s 8th District in Congress since 2015, recently used his social media platform to criticize the economic and foreign policies of former President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

On July 28, 2025, Beyer addressed U.S. trade policy under Trump in a post stating, “Trump’s ‘ trade deals’ won’t lower costs or expand economic opportunity. They are, at best, exercises in damage limitation. ‘It could be worse’ is no way to run an economy.”

Later that day, he commented on developments in Gaza: “Netanyahu’s policy in Gaza has created a starvation crisis. Allowing this to occur, and propping up the failed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, has been a terrible failure of American policy as well.   As international pressure mounts, Israel has begun to announce changes that will”

On July 29, Beyer continued his criticism of Trump’s economic record by writing: “Donald Trump promised Americans he’d lower costs on Day 1. Instead, his policies have driven prices up:”

Don Beyer replaced Jim Moran as the representative for Virginia’s 8th District in 2015 and has maintained this position since then. Born in Trieste in 1950 and currently residing in Alexandria, Beyer graduated from Williams College with a BA in 1972.
