Rep. Don Beyer, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th district, has been vocal on social media regarding several pressing issues. In a series of tweets, he addressed his ongoing efforts and views on recent political developments.
On June 4, 2025, Beyer announced a telephone town hall where he discussed the Republican reconciliation bill among other topics. He invited constituents to join the live stream for updates and to participate in the conversation.
Later that day, Beyer expressed his criticism of former President Trump’s travel bans through another tweet. He stated that these bans betray America’s foundational ideals and values, arguing that they are driven by prejudice rather than security concerns.
Continuing his critique of Trump’s policies on June 5, 2025, Beyer highlighted the negative impact of these measures on families he represents. In his tweet, he emphasized how these policies separate families and endanger lives under the guise of national security. He advocated for the NO BAN Act led by Rep. Judy Chu as a solution to halt such practices.
Don Beyer was born in Trieste in 1950 and has been serving in Congress since 2015 after replacing Jim Moran. A graduate of Williams College with a BA obtained in 1972, Beyer resides in Alexandria.
