The City of Alexandria is reminding residents about upcoming community workshops focused on the Duke Street Land Use Plan. The workshops are intended to give community members a chance to discuss the same topics presented at the December Open House and engage in conversations with city staff and neighbors.

Three sessions are scheduled: January 20 at Port City Brewing, and January 21 and 22 at Patrick Henry Recreation Center. Each workshop will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Organizers encourage participants to register in advance using the provided link: https://www.research.net/r/AlexandriaVA-DSLUPworkshop.

Materials from both the open house and workshops are available online until January 23 through the December Online Community Open House.

Alexandria operates as an independent municipal government providing public services within its boundaries and maintains a council-manager form of government where the City Council appoints a manager for daily operations, according to its official website. The city also works to promote equity through its policies and supports cultural heritage preservation by maintaining historic sites and museums such as the Alexandria Black History Museum (source).

Alexandria was established in 1749 along the Potomac River and continues to offer over 175 services through systems like Alex311 (source).
