Early voting for Stafford County’s April Special Election will begin on Friday, March 6, 2026. The election is scheduled for April 21, 2026. Voters will consider a proposed amendment to the Constitution of Virginia. The question on the ballot asks: “Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia’s standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?”
Mail-in ballot requests can be submitted to the General Registrar until 5 p.m. on April 10, 2026.
All early voting will take place at 124 Old Potomac Church Road, Suite 205, Stafford, VA 22554. Early voting hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., starting March 6 and ending April 17. Additionally, early voting will be available on two Saturdays—April 11 and April 18—from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will be no early voting at the George L. Gordon, Jr., Government Center.

– April 14: Last day to register or make changes to existing voter registration
– April 11 and April 18: Saturday early voting from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
– April 18: Last day for early voting
Absentee ballot drop boxes are available during early voting hours and at the Registrar’s Office during normal business hours from March 6 through April 21 at 7:00 p.m. On Election Day, drop boxes will be present at all polling locations from 6:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

Stafford County Public Schools District is the only school district in Stafford County and had an enrollment of approximately 31,700 students during the 2023-24 school year. This marked a 1.7% increase compared to the previous year. Within this district, Brooke Point High School reported the highest enrollment among all schools with over two thousand students. White students represented 38.9% of total enrollment, followed by Hispanic students at about one-quarter of students.
