FOIA Request to Arlington County Va Treasurer Regarding Property Tax Records 2024 – Present on May 12, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, Central Nova News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Arlington County Va Treasurer. We are seeking access to property tax records for the years 2024 and any available data for 2025. Specifically, we have requested information that includes Parcel ID, Year, Tax Value, and Assessed Value for properties within the county.

This request is made under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, §2.2-3704 et seq., with a preference for receiving the records in electronic format. Access to these public records is crucial for us as members of the media in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Our role involves holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public.

Additionally, we have requested a fee waiver due to our status as media professionals engaged in gathering and reporting news. This request aligns with our involvement with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating state and federal governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.

We believe that obtaining these records will help inform the American electorate by shedding light on government actions related to property taxation within Arlington County.
