Residents and visitors in Alexandria are invited to attend “Death at the City Hotel” at Gadsby’s Tavern Museum this Friday, October 17, 2025, at 7 p.m. The event will take place at 134 North Royal Street and aims to shed light on the true stories behind some of Alexandria’s well-known ghost tales, including two that are directly related to Gadsby’s Tavern.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore how these stories have become local legends and learn about their origins. The event also includes an activity to create a pendulum tool for paranormal communication, along with a drink ticket. Attendees are encouraged to engage in discussions about the stories presented.
Ticket prices are $35 for general admission and $30 for members and volunteers of the Office of Historic Alexandria. Tickets can be purchased online at AlexandriaVA.gov/Shop.
Later in the month, “Poe in Alexandria” will be held at The Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum on October 29 and 30.
