Don Beyer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, has recently expressed his concerns over several political issues through social media posts. Beyer, who succeeded Jim Moran and is currently living in Alexandria, took to Twitter to address various matters including national events and legislative decisions.

On June 13, 2025, Beyer criticized a parade event stating “And that isn’t the parade’s true purpose. The whole thing is just a spectacle to boost Trump’s fragile ego. But Republicans aren’t even going, even Speaker Mike Johnson said he won’t attend.” He further commented on the situation by saying “It’s embarrassing, and it shouldn’t be happening.”

Later that day, Beyer voiced his opposition to recent legislative actions taken by House Republicans. He tweeted about their decision to pass a bill aimed at rescinding funding for critical programs combatting HIV/AIDS and providing essential resources like food and clean water globally. In his words: “Yesterday, House Republicans passed legislation to rescind funding for livesaving programs that fight the HIV/AIDS epidemic and help people around the world access food and clean water.” He warned of its consequences by stating “This bill will kill people.” Moreover, he pledged continued efforts against this legislation as it proceeds to the Senate.

The following day on June 14, Beyer shared another brief yet concerning message regarding an unspecified issue by posting simply “This is a disaster in the making.”

As an experienced legislator with roots tracing back to Trieste where he was born in 1950, Don Beyer continues to engage actively with constituents through digital platforms while addressing key policy challenges.
