Rep. Don Beyer, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Virginia’s 8th district since 2015, has shared his perspectives on recent legislative developments via social media. Beyer, born in Trieste and a graduate of Williams College, expressed concerns about the potential impacts of proposed Republican policies.

On June 7, 2025, Rep. Beyer highlighted the fiscal implications of a Republican bill that could significantly increase national debt. He stated: “The Republican bill would add $3 TRILLION to our national debt. Here’s what that means: ‘The higher debt and deficits will put noticeable upward pressure on both inflation and interest rates in coming years.'”

The following day, June 8, 2025, he addressed the issue of healthcare coverage affected by Republican policy changes: “16 million Americans stand to lose their health care because of Republican cuts to Medicaid and attacks to the Affordable Care Act – all so they can give more tax cuts to billionaires.” He urged readers to understand the importance of protecting Medicaid.

Later that day, Beyer criticized a plan concerning Medicaid recipients: “The Republican plan to bury Medicaid recipients in paperwork: ‘Similar state-level policies have reduced the number of Medicaid recipients — but only by increasing the administrative burden on recipients, not by increasing the share who are employed.'”

As an advocate for healthcare accessibility and fiscal responsibility, Rep. Don Beyer’s comments underscore his ongoing commitment to these issues within his congressional duties.
