The Alexandria History Museum at The Lyceum will continue its Traditional Music Series with a St. Patrick’s celebration featuring the Irish Breakfast Band on March 14 at 7 p.m., according to a Mar. 11 announcement. Tickets for the event can be purchased online through the Historic Alexandria Shop.

The concert is part of ongoing efforts by the Office of Historic Alexandria and the North American Morris Dance Organization to bring traditional music to local audiences. The Irish Breakfast Band, known for performances that include more than 15 musicians playing fiddles, flutes, guitars, drums, hammered dulcimer, banjo, pipes, and vocals, regularly appears at major events throughout the Washington metropolitan area.

The March 14 performance offers an opportunity for attendees to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day early in a historic setting. Tickets are priced at $10 in advance or $15 at the door, with children aged 17 and under admitted for $5. Free snacks will be provided and a beer and wine cash bar will be available. Proceeds from ticket sales and concessions will benefit the Office of Historic Alexandria.

Additional concerts in this series include Cécilia performing traditional Celtic and Québécois music on March 10; Séan Gavin & Caoimhín Ó Fearghail on April 16; and Dylan Foley & Matt Mancuso on May 1—all taking place at The Lyceum.

Alexandria’s museums and historic sites enhance community identity by interpreting local social and cultural history, per the official website. The city also maintains sites such as the Alexandria Black History Museum to document African American heritage as noted on its official website. Efforts to incorporate racial and social equity into policies are ongoing according to city information.

Alexandria operates under a council-manager government structure where City Council selects a manager for operations according to its official website. As an independent city, it provides services within defined boundaries to residents, businesses, and visitors. Archaeological research is supported through partnerships coordinated by the Alexandria Archaeological Commission as reported by city sources.
