Loudoun County Transit will implement several adjustments to its commuter bus services beginning April 1, 2026, including expanded transit connections and reduced fares for seniors and people with disabilities.

The changes are designed to improve accessibility and convenience for riders. The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approved these adjustments during the December 8, 2025 Transit Summit.

One of the main updates is the relocation of commuter bus service from the Dulles Transit Center in Sterling to the Loudoun Gateway Metrorail Station. This move provides additional transit options for commuters by connecting them directly to the Silver Line Metrorail and local bus services. Riders using a SmarTrip card on their evening return trip from Loudoun Gateway will also receive free parking in the station’s garage. The Dulles Transit Center will remain open but only for carpool and vanpool commuters.

Another change affects passengers traveling from Washington, D.C., as afternoon pickups at I & 15th Street NW will be discontinued due to construction. Instead, new permanent pickup locations have been established at I & 14th Street NW (bus shelter) and mid-block on I St NW between 13th Street NW and 14th Street NW. These stops will be clearly marked with signage indicating route information.

Starting April 1, qualifying passengers aged 65 or older or those with disabilities can receive a fifty percent discount on commuter bus fares when using a Senior SmarTrip card or WMATA Reduced Fare SmarTrip Photo ID Card. Passengers paying cash are not eligible for this discount.

To keep up-to-date with future service changes or alerts, riders are encouraged to visit loudoun.gov/BusChanges or subscribe to notifications via email or text at loudoun.gov/BusBiz. The county also recommends downloading the free Transit app for real-time updates about favorite routes.
