Loudoun County will hold a hazardous waste drop-off event for businesses and other non-residential generators on April 30. Pre-registration is required, with the deadline set for 5:00 p.m. on April 24.

The event is part of the Loudoun County Business Hazardous Waste Program, which offers two collection opportunities each year for eligible participants to safely dispose of toxic, reactive, ignitable, and corrosive materials. The program is available to businesses and organizations in Loudoun County that qualify as “Very Small Quantity Generators.” To be eligible, these entities must generate less than 220 pounds of hazardous waste or less than 2.2 pounds of acutely hazardous waste per month and may not accumulate more than approximately five 55-gallon drums (2,220 pounds) of hazardous wastes at any time.

According to the county’s announcement, participating in this program typically results in lower disposal costs compared to arranging collection services directly with a hazardous waste management company. While businesses are responsible for paying disposal fees for their materials, they do not incur charges for collection or mobilization.

Registration forms and additional information about the event can be found at loudoun.gov/bhwp or by calling 703-771-5500.

The county holds these events twice a year to support local organizations in meeting regulatory requirements while ensuring proper handling of potentially dangerous substances.
